Our own class barometer & weather chart

The next week we decided to make our own class barometer and become METEOROLOGISTS by predicting what the weather will do. We used a jar, a stretched balloon and a straw to make it.

We then recorded on a chart what our barometer said the weather was going to do and what the weather was actually doing outside.

When the straw went up we knew the weather would be fine, if it went down the weather would be stormy.

Our barometer was almost always right which meant we could be better prepared for the effects of the weather!

We are have been learning about weather!!! Sophie brought in her family heirloom, a barometer and we wanted to find out more.....

Winnie the Guide dog

As part of PAI we have been looking at working dogs. We have been beginning to understand that dogs are not always just house pets they can also be trained up to serve in the community.
We were super lucky to have Jo and Winnie the Golder Retriever come in and talk to us about the training that is required for a dog to become a Guide dog.

Week 2

This week we have learning about working dogs. As part of PAI on Monday Trey brought along his new puppy Lennox, we were very lucky and all got to hold and pat him

Instruction writing

Over the last couple of weeks we have been learning to write instructions. We began looking at what instructions are and why we need them and began to realise that reading and following instructions are all around us. On one particular day we decided to write instructions on how to feed your cat or dog. Cam dressed up as a cat for us and we went through the steps together of what things we needed to feed our animals. We then made sure we were very precise and our steps were in the correct order.

Beanies!!!

Beanies! Windsor School students are extremely lucky, each child was gifted their own handmade beanie. These beanies came from all around the word and were given to children around christchurch to help keep them warm at night. Room 2 loved their beanies and many children are still wearing them! Here are some photos of us :)

Chelsea's last day!

Here are some photos from Chelsea's last day at Windsor. We loved having Chelsea in our class, we had a party to say goodbye.

Planting our vege garden!

On Fabulous Friday Room 2 planted their vege garden. It was great fun and we were very lucky to have Mr Edmonds to help us out. We are learning about how to be responsible and how we need to apply this value to our class garden. If we look after it and make sure it gets enough water, later in the year we should have some delicious vegetables to EAT!!!

Room 2's play

Over the last few weeks Room 2 have been working hard in Drama to produce a play. On Monday a several weeks back myself and some parents were lucky enough to see this. The story line was taken from the book "The wrong book". Here are some snaps of the performance.
