Duathlon

Wow what a fabulous morning we had biking and running at our junior school duathlon. Room 7 children showed lots of DETERMINATION when they participated in this awesome event. Everyone was very proud of them!

A big congratulations to Ethan who was placed 3rd in the year 1 boys. A huge well done to Shelby who placed 2nd in the year 1 girls team.

Remembering February 22nd 2011

Windsor School displayed some cone art outside our front gate to remember those lives lost and their families in the February earthquake.
Room 7 placed some flowers into cones and then we followed this up with 1 minute silence with the Kahu team.

Searching for worms!

Do worms have bones? What's inside them?

We wanted to know more about worms and what they look like really close up! So we became explorers and went looking in the school garden for tiger earthworms! Here are some pictures of us investigating.

Worm Farms in Room 7!!!!

We have been learning about worm farms and how they help our enviroment.

Brian brought in his worm farm to show us how they are made and what the worms actually do!

Did you know that worm wees is good for the garden?

The bottom container of the worm farm had worm wees in it and surprisingly it didn't smell. The middle part of this farm (the yellow container) is the nursery. When these baby worms get bigger they crawl up to the top and eat the food scraps. Once the worms eat the food scraps they turn it into compost which is actually worm poos or worm castings!!!!
